《霸王别姬》讲述的是楚汉相争末期，西楚霸王项羽兵败垓下，被困于九面楚歌之中，爱妾虞姬自刎谢世的故事。这出戏是梅派旦角代表性的唱段之一。

《Farewell My Concubine》depicts the tragic farewell between Xiang Yu (the Overlord of Western Chu) and his concubine, Yu Ji, before his defeat and death. YU JI and this play is iconic among the  Mei Lanfang school plays.
